National Cadet Corps (NCC), the premier youth organization of the nation is all set to organize the largest ever demonstration of Yoga by a voluntary uniformed organization on a single day concurrently at multiple venues all across India. NCC will achieve this feat on the International Day of Yoga on 21 Jun 2015 by participation of more than ten lakh cadets simultaneously at about One Thousand Nine hundred centres/locations across India from 0700 h to 0735 h. The TN,P & AN Directorate at Chennai has completed its preparations for the event and all cadets are awaiting the day with much excitement.
From April to Jun this year, NCC Directorate Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar has trained its cadets in yoga over a period of fifteen days each. For this nearly 180 venues across the State were utilized and several instructors of AYUSH were employed. The mammoth task of training over 90000 NCC cadets has been accomplished by the NCC Directorate covering the State of Tamilnadu and Union Territories of Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
There will be 76 venues across Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Andaman Nicobar where the cadets will participate in the Yoga Display on 21 June 2015. Instructors from Ministry of AYUSH have done a Yeoman service in training and preparing the cadets for the event. Several Educational Institutions have extended their whole hearted cooperation towards conduct of this event and the Directorate had to limit the number to only 76 venues due to administrative constraints. In Chennai, there
will be a total of 18,153 cadets performing in eight venues which include MMC Ground, Loyola College, Pachaiyappa’s College, Don Bosco HSS, A M Jain College, Anna University, Vel Tech Engg College and Lalaji Omega School.There will be separate arrangements for the girls and boys at each venue.
The Deputy Director General Commodore Vijesh Kumar Garg, VSM thanked the Govts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman, All Educational Institutions and parents for their whole hearted support for the conduct of the event. He also expressed his gratitude to the media for spreading the ‘Awareness of Yoga’ and “a healthy mind in a healthy body” amongst the youth.
